Common reasons for Shopify store termination
Shopify is dedicated to ensuring a safe and reliable shopping environment for all users. Adherence to Shopify Terms of Service, Shopify Acceptable Use Policy, and Supplementary Terms for E.U. and U.K. Merchants is essential. Violations can lead to the termination of your store, which are commonly based on:
- Activity that isn't, or that we suspect isn't, a legitimate commerce practice. This type of activity damages consumer trust and is a violation of Shopify's Terms of Service.
- Stores that were previously flagged for review and an appeal wasn't submitted within 3 consecutive days.
In severe cases, stores may be terminated without prior communication.
How to appeal your store's termination
Shopify sends a termination notification to the store owner's registered email address. To submit an appeal, click the link in the email to access the appeal form.
Steps:
- Find the email from Shopify notifying you of your store's termination by searching "Ticket ID" in your inbox. If you have trouble locating the email, then contact Shopify Support.
- Click the appeal link in the email.
- Complete the appeal form with explanations and any supporting documents that demonstrate your store's compliance with Shopify's policies.
- Ensure that all the information is correct, and then click Submit for review.
What to expect after submitting an appeal
After you submit an appeal, your case undergoes a thorough review:
- Your documents, identity verification, and explanations are examined.
- A decision is made based on the comprehensive evaluation of your appeal.
- You receive a response detailing the outcome to the store owner's email address.
If your appeal is successful, then you may need to select a new subscription plan to reactivate your store.
